The Communications Assistant is a part-time employee with social media experience and talent. It is a role that requires strength in storytelling through written, verbal and basic video production as well as an eye for photography. A core understanding of brand integrity and messaging is fundamental.
Essential Job Functions:
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills with experience in social media marketing including Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
- Be a proactive person who knows how to balance time, changing demands and a schedule that has you working in the office as well as out in our service area.
- Be a good listener who will passionately communicate our mission and values throughout various communication channels and help build awareness of our efforts to alleviate hunger in our 16-county service area.
- Aid in the daily aspects of promoting the Food Bank of Lincoln’s various campaigns and events.
- Interact with followers, donors, and neighbors seeking food resources by communicating and answering questions through the company's social pages.
- Assist in implementing plans to increase followers on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
- Oversee the creation and implementation of a monthly social media plan.
- Aid in the creation of written and visual communications (including photography and videography) for the Food Bank’s website and print marketing materials.
- Support development and outreach activities, including special events, tours and presentations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, business, related field or currently enrolled in post-secondary education in these fields of study.
- 1-2 years of social media management experience.
- General knowledge in Meta Business Suite, WordPress, Adobe Suite, Canva and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.).
- Communication and organizational skills to work cross-functionally and collaboratively across departments and teams.
- Valid Nebraska driver’s license and must be insurable.
- Passion for alleviating hunger, addressing food insecurity and the root causes of poverty and injustice.
- Motivated by service, humility and compassion for helping people.

- Exhibited interest in professional development to advance skills in the areas of communication and marketing.
Job Type: Part-time
