Warehouse Assistant

Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Facilities and Warehouse Manager, the Warehouse Assistant will be responsible for performing duties associated with warehouse activities, assists in maintaining a clean, safe, and attractive working environment.

Essential Functions:

· Responsible for performing warehouse and floor activities including loading and unloading of trucks, filling orders, storing materials, forklift operations and building maintenance.

· Responsible for receiving products from donors, other food banks and FOOD Share trucks.

· Responsible for accurately processing delivery and donation paperwork.

· Responsible for assisting the volunteer workforce.

· Responsible for cleaning the warehouse, cooler and freezer as instructed.

· Drive Food Share’s Class “C” vehicles as needed.

· Responsible for projecting a positive public image of Food Share at all times.

· Follow food safety and warehouse safety guidelines.

· Responsible for performing other duties assigned.

Additional Skills:

· Forklift experience preferred.

· Able to successfully pass pre-employment screenings and background checks.

· Ability to be organized and efficient at prioritizing projects.

· Must demonstrate exemplary customer service skills to communicate with all food bank stakeholders.

· Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Job Qualifications:

· High School degree or equivalent.

· Valid California Driver’s License.

· Acceptable Driving record.

· Experience in proper food storage, handling and inventory practices.

· Basic knowledge of building, warehouse equipment, and vehicle maintenance.

· Ability to work in a Team environment.

· Skilled in accurate record keeping and reporting.

· Demonstrates a commitment to the mission of Food Share.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to lift up-to 50 pounds regularly.

· Stand for long periods of time.

· Must be comfortable working in a warehouse environment.

· Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities including climbing stairs.

Pay: $18.81 - $21.00 per hour
