Reports to: Director of Student Services
Schedule: 40 hours per week / 8 hours per day / 42 weeks per year
Salary: Per the FHEA Master Agreement Salary Schedule
Job Summary: The primary goal of this position is to enhance the mental and emotional well-being of our students by implementing a combination of proactive and restorative strategies within a supportive school environment. This role involves providing tailored consultation or clinical therapy to help students manage personal, emotional, family, or social challenges. Additionally, this position will play a crucial role in fostering a sense of belonging and improving the school culture and climate by developing supportive systems across the district. The objective is to cultivate a school culture that not only addresses immediate mental health needs but also promotes resilience, develops coping skills, and enhances the overall educational experience and personal growth of each student.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in social work
- Full or temporary approval from the Michigan Department of Education as a school social worker preferred.
- Three (3) or more years’ experience implementing strategic mental health systems and supports
Essential Job Functions:
- Supports the development of systemic practices aligned to the strategic plan.
- Works with identified students for the purpose of identifying behavioral and mental health issues that are limiting or preventing academic and social success.
- Conducts Behavioral Threat Assessments, Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA), and Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP) as assigned
- Serves as a member of the District Behavioral Threat Assessment Management Team
- Assists with training and support of Building MTSS teams.
- Ensures effective communication and engagement with students and parents related to the student's progress in their behavioral and mental health goals.
- Recommends courses of action or corrective procedures to overcome identified issues and maximize readiness for learning.
- Coordinates with outside agencies, organizations and institutions, including state and federal authorities as needed.
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge regarding current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, by conducting research, and by maintaining professional relationships.
- Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
- Participates on the District Crisis Response Team
- Assists with data collection and program implementation related to Whole Child Initiatives.
- Consistent and reliable attendance.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a moderate or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus. Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work may be performed indoors and/or outdoors. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of students.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.
