What are the responsibilities and job description for the ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY RN position at Forrest Health?
Under the supervision of the Cath Lab Manager and in accordance with approved policy, assists the Electrophysiologist and/or surgeon/cardiologist involved in all procedures performed in the Electrophysiology Cath Lab. The Electrophysiology Nurse is responsible for helping to develop and implement systems to assure the smooth and efficient flow of patients for procedures in the Elecrophysiology (EP) Lab. Duties include but not limited to the patient assessment, administration of medications, moderate sedation, hemodynamic monitoring, must be competent in the use of EP Stimulating/monitoring system with guidance from physician, circulating and scrubbing during EP procedures and other procedures scheduled in our invasive procedure labs, as well as possible cases in the operating room, and management of venous and arterial sheaths. The position also assists in pre and post patient assessment and patient care, patient and family teaching, circulation, scrubbing, and hemodynamic monitoring during the invasive procedures. This individual is able to demonstrate clinical expertise in working with electrophysiology patients during invasive diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology, and device implantation procedures. Accepts other responsibilities as are delegated by the Manager/Director to assure optimum patient care. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed.

- Demonstrate the ability to care for patients throughout the pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure phases of care
- Successfully complete the Moderate Sedation Certification class along with ACLS and demonstrate the aptitude for safely administering moderate sedation along with identifying and treating any potential related complications
- Demonstrate the aptitude for assisting anesthesia as needed throughout the procedure
- Demonstrate the aptitude for assisting with all procedures in any needed role including but not limited to: hemodynamic monitoring, procedure documentation, moderate sedation administration/monitoring, and directly assisting physician at scrub table
- Demonstrate the technical aptitude for dealing with and troubleshooting catheters and equipment used during EP and Cardiovascular procedures.
- Demonstrate the technical aptitude to maintain proper sterile techniques for procedures and ensures compliance with infection control procedures
- Demonstrates the ability to provide accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures with correct entry of charges at the time service is delivered
- Demonstrate the ability to safely minimize exposure to radiation using shielding and distance
- Promote a positive work environment and contribute to a dynamic, team focused work unit that collaborates with multi-disciplinary members in achieving optimal department results
- Demonstrate the technical/cognitive ability to proficiently perform in the scrub role on all basic EP diagnostic/interventional procedures.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
Graduate of a recognized non-online RN program required.
Work Experience:
Cardiac/Telemetry experience required. ICU/ED/Critical Care experience preferred.
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
