Summary / Objective :
A Carrier Sales Representative Trainee is responsible for learning how to connect customer shipments with reliable carrier partners. The main objective of this role is to track, trace, and manage carrier partner relationships with constant communication. These conversations include determining carrier availability, negotiating rates based on market trends, and identifying and resolving issues. Additionally, Carrier Sales Representatives Trainee will learn how to build internal relationships to ensure team efficiency that will eventually lead into your own carrier book of business.
Duties / Responsibilities :
Track, trace, and update all loads in transit
Maintain quality communication with carriers to facilitate account growth and ensure
customers needs are met
Learn and utilize different Transportation Management Systems
Make outbound calls to book loads with carriers
Maintain outstanding service performance and achieve service metrics
Build strong internal relationships with Fort Freights Business development team
Prioritize and respond to both internal and external requests in a timely, effective, and professional manner
Document and follow existing standard operating processes
Assist with problem solving by proactively getting updates from carriers
Speak with drivers over the phone to ensure proper instructions are followed for quality service
Source dedicated carriers for consistent lanes and future bid opportunities
Other duties as assigned
Required Skills / Abilities :
Bachelors Degree desired
Customer service or sales experience preferred
Enthusiasm for sales and developing carrier relationships
Creative problem-solving skills
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, effective organizational skills, adaptability
Deliver independent results while also demonstrating ability to work in a team environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multitask and prioritize at a high level
