General Description:
As the Finishing Production Manager you are responsible for leading and supervising the finishing department within your facility, which includes achieving all Safety, Quality, Customer Satisfaction, and Productivity metrics. You will ensure that finished goods are free from defects and meet the highest quality standards for our customers. You will be responsible for supervising all shifts and ensuring operators are working in a safe and efficient manner. You will train and lead your employees through best practices, to ensure complete and accurate inventory quantities. Lastly, you will foster an environment of continuous learning and development through cross-training and up-skilling of your team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the finishing functions of the site and ensure consistency across all shifts.
- Ensure quality product is produced in a safe, consistent, and timely way, exceeding customer expectations.
- Review and sign off on all running quality checklists.
- Support and partner with print production teams on all customer trials.
- Lead, contribute to and participate in daily Production and Quality meetings.
- Participate in all New Label and Go/No Go Meetings by providing insight and expertise and report to the Plant Manager any reason of concern.
- Lead direct reports on the creation, implementation and ongoing monitoring of manufacturing plans, goals, and continuous improvement projects.
- Enforce systems, policies, and procedures across teams in a fair and consistent manner.
- Manage the workflow by utilizing the company’s ERP system to extract and analyze relevant data to drive improvement of operational metrics. This includes ERP reports, end of shift reports, etc.
- Incorporate lean principles to implement, and continuously improve production processes and procedures. This entails a specific focus on key metrics, including material waste, setup time, equipment speeds, labor variance, material variance, quality metrics, and on-time delivery.
- Facilitate and manage training matrix, ensuring employees are cross trained to have multi-functional skills while also maintaining business continuity. Maintain compliance with all required training renewals.
- Facilitate capital projects as needed, including equipment installations and relocation requests, etc.
- Partner with Plant Manager/GM to facilitate monthly review of production cost centers and complete countermeasures of any category over budget.
- Oversee the creation of corrective action responses, proper use of defect detection systems, and the color management processes across all shifts.
- Maintain quality by implementing and enforcing organizational standards.
- Maintain safe work environment by assisting and enforcing in the implementation of safety practices.
- Foster an open-door environment and solutions-based team approach across all departments and shifts.
- Manage employee time approvals in the payroll system to include time worked and paid time off requests as well as tracking employee attendance according to company policy.
- Continuously evaluate workforce development opportunities for employee growth including operator certifications, cross-training, department transfers and promotions. Contribute to staffing calls.
- Effectively and consistently administer skills assessments for new employees, ensuring quality training is provided. Monitor employee performance by providing regular performance feedback and coaching, including administering quarterly performance check-in reviews.
- Manage and develop direct reports by communicating job expectations, monitoring and appraising job results, coaching, training and disciplining, as necessary.

Qualifications
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree or higher is preferred.
- 7-10 years’ experience in a mid to large-size print manufacturer is required, with at least 3 of those years held in a supervisory position.
- At least 3 years of similar work experience in warehouse, inventory, or supply chain supervision.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Self-starter and a team player who will thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.
- Knowledge of manufacturing ERP systems is highly preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft office suite (including Microsoft Excel and Outlook).
- Comfortable with data driven management and data tools and analysis.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to relate mechanical and technical concepts in non-technical language is required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Direct supervision of first shift Finishing, Warehouse and Shipping employees.
- Indirect supervision of off-shift Finishing, Warehouse and Shipping employees.
Training Requirements:
- Required to pass forklift operator training.
- Required to complete a Train the trainer, forklift certifier course.
- Willing to attend required training courses or sessions related to the job as assigned.
Physical Demands:
- Daily sitting, standing, crouching, and lifting up to 50 lbs of material regularly and up to 75 lbs of material with assistance.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
Work Environment:
- Regular exposure to dust and noise in the production environment.
- Warehouse environment temperatures may be influenced by outside temperatures.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Safety shoes and glasses are highly recommended in the production area.
