- Previous head coaching experience, particularly in cheerleading.
- Proven track record of success in competitive cheerleading and sideline cheer.
- Completion of 60 or more college credit hours prior to the start of coaching.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to build strong, positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, and motivational skills.
- Organize and oversee a fall competitive cheerleading season and a football sideline/game day cheer season.
- Organize and oversee a winter sideline/game day cheer season for basketball.
- Design a comprehensive program that promotes physical fitness, technical skill development, and teamwork.
- Teach the fundamentals of cheerleading, including stunts, tumbling, and routines, with a strong emphasis on safety protocols.
- Promote good sportsmanship, leadership, and respect for the values of the Howell Family.
- Encourage academic success, emphasizing the importance of balancing sports and studies.
- Serve as a role model and mentor, instilling confidence and a positive mindset in students.
- Plan and execute team meetings, tryouts, and a transparent selection process.
- Establish clear team rules, procedures, and policies, documenting them for approval by the Athletic Director and distribution to team members.
- Collaborate with the Athletic Director to recruit, train, and organize a qualified coaching staff.
- Provide guidance and support to assistant coaches, ensuring alignment with program goals and standards.
- Manage scheduling, budgeting, and logistics for practices, competitions, and team events.
- Communicate effectively with parents, school administration, and the wider community about team activities and expectations.
- Ensure compliance with district policies, state regulations, and safety guidelines.
- Practices and events will be conducted in various settings, including gymnasiums, outdoor fields, and competition venues.
- The position requires flexibility with evenings, weekends, and travel for games and competitions.
