JOB TITLE: 5th and 6th grade Spanish Teacher
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten (10) Months (Classified – Exempt)
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Principal
POSITION DESCRIPTION
To provide high-quality instruction to all students based on TN state standards in all assigned subject areas to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Plan, prepare, implement, and assess instructional lessons based on the grade-level standards and the individual learning plan for each student.
- Provide grade-level instruction to all students in the classroom.
- Maintain accurate records in the following areas:
- Student attendance
- Student data/progress
- Parent correspondence
- Individual Education Plans
- Injuries
- Cumulative Records for each child
- Regular communication with parents regarding student progress and conference with parents as needed.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Conduct on-going assessment of student achievement and respond to the data to improve student learning.
- Assist in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials.
- Participate in professional learning activities.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Abide by Teacher Code of Ethics.
- Comply with state, district and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Supervise students at all times.
- Maintain positive relationships with parents and community members.
- Maintain a clean, safe and orderly classroom environment.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Appropriate Tennessee Teaching License with applicable endorsement*
- Endorsement in Spanish will qualify for this position.
- Bachelors’ Degree or higher in related field

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
- Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling and twisting
- Frequent walking
- Regular light lifting (less than 15 pounds); occasionally may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment
- Work inside or outside; regular exposure to noise
- May work prolonged or irregular hours
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: $45,302.00 - $87,681.00 per year
