What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Director - Early Childhood Education position at Friends Center for Children?
The Human Resources Director will play a critical role at Friends Center for Children as our organization continues to grow. The Human Resources Director is responsible for overseeing major program functions within the organization, including but not limited to daily program operation, recruitment, orientation, career development, benefits management, succession planning, and compensation. They will partner with our executive team in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for accomplishing program goals and objectives. Our high-quality educators are at the heart of our work, and the Human Resources Director will help us to sustainably grow our staff as we open new sites. The Human Resources Director reports to the Program Director and Executive Director. The Human Resources Director in partnership with the Program Director will provide strategic leadership and communicate all program needs and updates to the executive management team. This position will work closely with our staff and our executive team to ensure a professional work environment at FCfC that reflects our values and our mission.
Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In Partnership with the Program Director
- Collaborates closely with other members of the leadership team to ensure continuity across program sites
- Manages program-related concerns (families, staff, community)
- Provides program-wide communications with the community when necessary, in conjunction with the Executive Director and Program Director.
- Collaborates with admissions on enrollment and recruitment
Support of current personnel
- Assist in communicating company policies and procedures. Promote understanding within the organization and across the school operations
- Direct preparation of Paychex payroll file for the purpose of ensuring payment of wages each pay period
- Support the performance review process; provide employees and managers with information about the process, policies, job duties, and process for promotion
- Administer employee benefit programs, answer employee questions, support claim resolution, and maintain related systems
- Lead employee recreation and recognition programs, keeping track of employee anniversary dates and contributing to positive staff morale/culture
- In partnership with the Executive Director, maintain employee handbooks and produce newsletters for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written references, and/or conveying information
- Attend all staff meetings and parent gatherings to stay involved and be knowledgeable about all aspects of the Center
- Plans and facilitates staff in-services and training on all topics for all NAEYC and licensing requirements, in collaboration with the Management Team
Hiring & Onboarding
- Serve as an ambassador for Friends Center, representing who we are as well as what we believe.
- Develop staffing proposals for meeting the needs of the organization as we grow
- Recruit for open positions and perform the full life cycle of recruiting activities including sourcing and screening applicants, attending career fairs, maintaining recruiting systems, providing follow-through with candidates, and reporting recruiting statistics
- Direct employee background processes for the purpose of ensuring employees are in compliance with applicable state regulations.
- Lead employee onboarding activities and provide support to managers when integrating new hires into the organization
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree required, Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, Organizational Leadership, or Human Resources Management preferred
- Fluency in English
- Demonstrated interest in and familiarity with early childhood education
- Must possess the ability to work in a fast-paced and quickly growing-environment

Preferred Qualifications:
- 4 years experience in early childhood education leadership and/or supervising employees
- Previous experience managing groups and/or individuals
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with people
- Ability to communicate effectively and facilitate interactions
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Self-starter with excellent organizational and planning skills
- Ability to strategize and prioritize multiple responsibilities
- Attention to detail and timelines
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and Google Suite as data management tools

Benefits
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $55,000 - $70,000
- Employee child tuition discount: Up to $22,000 - FCfC offers care to employee children. Every effort will be made to ensure employee placements as soon as possible. Full-time employees who have children enrolled at Friends Center for Children and who are in good standing are eligible to receive a discount up to $22,000 on their tuition. The tuition discount is determined based on the amount of the tuition contract.
- Haven’s Harvest Program: up to $100/week - FCfC offers free weekly food from Trader Joe’s through Haven Harvest' Food Rescue program. Once per week, food is delivered to the Center giving families, staff and educators an opportunity to take home various food items.
- Professional Development: free professional development opportunities - FCfC offers free professional development opportunities for all staff members. All Staff create a professional growth plan with a team member. Professional development opportunities are paid for by Friends Center for Children.
- Emotional Hardship Program: Free Emotional Well-Being Support - FCfC offers free emotional well-being meetings with any teacher that endures an emotional hardship. All FCfC teachers have the opportunity to ask for emotional support to find external resources for further support and guidance.
- Health Insurance: FCfC will contribute 80% of the equivalent of a standard HMO individual coverage cost through our provider for our group health insurance program.
