At Friends of Aine, our vision is to create a world where no child grieves alone. Hope is the key word at our organization, highlighted in our mission to help children and families grieving a death navigate their path to a hopeful future.

Established in 2013 as a 501c3 nonprofit organization, Friends of Aine supports, educates and advocates to provide hope for grieving children and families. We do this through:

  • Robust child bereavement services to help children develop tools to cope effectively and confidently in their daily lives and to give them the safety and freedom to share their story.
  • Educate and raise awareness statewide of the need to support grieving children through training, education and research.
  • To cement an enduring legacy of Aine by establishing our organization as the center of excellence for grief in NH that embodies her spirit, personality and kindness for the delivery of child grief support so that children do not feel alone after the death of a loved one.

Friends of Aine is expanding services statewide and is in a significant growth trajectory. We are seeking a Director of Philanthropy to expand on a solid fundraising base, build and expand donor and business relationships and develop the resources to implement our mission statewide. This is an opportunity to build a development program in an organization that is in a position of strength, as Friends of Aine is on sound financial footing and is experiencing rapid growth. Friends of Aine is interested in a seasoned, well-networked development professional bringing their experience to bear to further our vision of ensuring no child grieves alone.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creation of a development plan
  • Expansion of contributed income (philanthropic income) to keep pace with a growing organizational budget and special projects
  • Deepen, grow, and steward relationships with the donor base at all levels
  • Creation and activation of a legacy giving program
  • Foster a culture of philanthropy across the organization
  • Implementation of short-term and long-term strategies to maintain contributed income sustainability.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead and implement all fundraising efforts including: major gifts program, annual fund and tribute gifts, and corporate partnerships
  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors, both individual and corporate, to ensure a robust fundraising portfolio
  • Deepen present and new donor relationships
  • Oversee and lead signature fundraising events
  • Grow grant revenue (oversee and strategize with grant writer)
  • Establish a legacy giving program
  • Attend and network at community events, establishing the Director of Philanthropy role as a recognized community leader to increase prospects’ awareness of and access to the organization
  • Create and implement a development plan that grows with the organization’s 10-year strategic objectives
  • Coordinate with the Executive Director to identify, promote, and establish high-potential relationships and opportunities and to leverage long-term relationships
  • Guide and inspire the Board of Directors as ambassadors for Friends of Aine.
  • Lead an effective and active Development Committee
  • Be an integral member of the leadership team, guiding the culture of philanthropy among the staff
  • In all aspects, lead with empathy, understanding and compassion

Ideal Qualifications

  • Experience expanding a development program in an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Proven track record of philanthropic success
  • Knowledge of the NH philanthropy landscape and industry trends
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to the nonprofit sector
  • Lead, inspire and guide the Board of Directors, development committee, staff and volunteers in philanthropy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop and manage philanthropic budgets and prepare financial giving reports
  • Comfortable in small and large networking and group environments
  • Familiarity with CRM or development database tools; experience with Little Green Light a plus
  • Experience integrating fundraising messaging with overall marketing and communications of the organization
  • Passion for the cause, and sensitivity to the mission

This is a full-time, salaried position.

Salary: $100,00-$120,000

Benefits include medical, dental, retirement, short and long-term disability insurance.

Work Environment: Office setting with some travel required for meeting with donors and prospects. Flexibility for occasional remote work.
