Logistics Coordinator - FS Grain - Morris, IL
PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing all aspects of shipping routes and coordination of grain movements. The ideal Logistics Coordinator will be adept at communication, negotiation, organization, and customer service skills.
SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP
Effectively direct and influence the activities or actions of others as it relates to the need of the Logistics Department.
Oversee all direct reports in the Logistics Department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Responsible for planning and dispatching trucks, both company and brokered, according to daily location, customer and marketing needs while maximizing company profitability.
Daily communication with customers, Logistics team, Customer Service Team, and other staff as it relates to grain movement needs, schedule changes, and service issues.
Negotiate, calculate, and maintain all grain hauling job mileage and freight rates into the appropriate technology platform.
Find qualified carriers to handle brokered freight and assist with negotiating freight rates that will allow FS GRAIN to generate an acceptable profit margin.
Ensure all drivers are operating their trucks according to FS GRAIN policies and Federal, State and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
Maintain and grow professional relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
Maintain all trucks owned and leased by FS GRAIN in acceptable working condition under requirements of DOT and Federal regulations, including scheduling or ordering repairs and DOT inspections.
Maintain and complete assigned reports as they relate to the logistics of FS GRAIN.
Utilize technology to optimize procedures and improve processes.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Responsible for maintaining company equipment according to company standards.
Adheres to the company uniform policy and maintains the appropriate professional image.
Turn in necessary documents and paperwork in a timely basis.
Performs related duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in logistics related field, preferred but not required.
Minimum of three years' experience preferred.
Proven ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment with excellent communication skills.
Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to travel independently and overnight if necessary.
Must be able to work hours beyond those considered normal when necessary.
