Multi-Disciplined Technician II

Location: 100% Onsite in Hickory, NC
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:

Testing & Setup:

• Assist in setting up and verifying fiber optic testing products.
• Configure product samples (e.g., cables, connectors) for environmental and mechanical testing.
• Perform optical measurements using manual or automated test systems

Test Execution & Reporting:

• Program and operate environmental chambers and mechanical test equipment.
• Execute tests and track/report progress as directed.
• Document test results following established procedures.
• Conduct basic data analysis and draft formal test reports.

Troubleshooting & Failure Analysis:

• Assist in failure mode analysis and perform basic troubleshooting/problem solving.

Workplace Maintenance:

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

Required Skills:

• Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Familiarity with basic measurement tools (e.g., gauges, scales, micrometers).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to complete assignments accurately within pre-defined schedules.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Hands-on technical skills using test and measurement equipment.

Desired Skills:

• Highly motivated self-starter with a willingness to learn.
• Experience with fusion splicing and optical fiber cable installation is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with testing products in a metrology or material testing laboratory environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to physically maneuver optical fiber cables and perform tasks that require lifting, pulling, or moving items between locations.
• Comfortable working under extreme temperature conditions (e.g., 104°F to -22°F).
• Must have good eyesight and the ability to handle small, delicate parts.

Education & Experience Requirements:

• High School diploma (minimum).
• Previous experience in fiber optics.
• Experience in a metrology or testing laboratory environment is highly desirable.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $20.21 - $23.21 per hour
