In-Home Educator Non-exempt
Job Title : Life Skills Educator 4
Department : Adaptive Skills Training - 605
Location : Antelope Valley or San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita or East Los Angeles or Kern County
Bilingual : Not required but preferred
Requirements : Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services required. Vehicle, Auto insurance, Driver’s License, successful completion of a Live Scan background check, DMV report for the past 7 years (DMV printout required yearly).
You must complete an I-9 and show valid proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. Must be 18 years of age.
Availability : Full-time and Part-Time available for Adaptive Skills Training
Start Date : Immediate hire - several positions available
Job Summary :
Perform services (In-home and community) teaching adult Consumers with Developmental Disabilities.
Job Duties :
Train or teach children and / or adults with Developmental Disabilities to accomplish daily skills in the home and in the community. Follow Individual Service Plan, work high-level cases and provide training in the following areas, but not limited to : housing, support in college, DCFS and court cases, locate community resources, complete all hours assigned, maintain accurate records, submit all reports as needed, identify and report possible abuse / neglect.
Skills and Educational Requirements :
Must have experience working with persons with Developmental Disabilities. Ability to communicate with Consumers and their families, employees, office personnel and management. Have knowledge of crisis intervention techniques. Current CPR / First Aid certification for adults. Ability to use creativity in following the Service Plan. Bachelor’s Degree required and a minimum of 1 year professional experience working with Developmentally Disabled adults.
Work Environment :
Working in Client homes, visits to colleges, social settings, grocery stores, mall, SSI, DMV, banks, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Ability to communicate effectively, ability to organize, make simple calculations, perform a variety of tasks at one time, ability to use creativity to teach the Individual Service Plan.
Pay Range : $30.00 - $32.00 Hourly
Salary : $30 - $32
