Essential Functions and Duties:
We are seeking a compassionate and resourceful Education Support Professional who would open our participants’ sense of adventure to the outside world. You will be the courageous advocate who will encourage them beyond their fears of the unknowns, to support them towards self-advocacy in their pursuit of a productive and meaningful life. As the Education Support Professional you will work directly with participants who are furthering their education at a local community college. This position requires constant driving, the ability to manage a caseload of participants, and support participants at colleges located in Sacramento, Elk Grove, Folsom, Roseville, and Davis.
Special Qualifications:
As the Education Support Professional, your main role is to ensure the safe enjoyment and engagement of every participant. This job is ideal for someone looking to gain experience in the field while supporting the participants to achieve their goals. Ideal candidates have an understanding of the community college system and are able to guide participants looking to advance their education. As such, you must have the proficiencies and work experience as required:
- Practice a collaborative work style using teamwork, professionalism, including tact, and good judgement, not only with the participants but with your coworkers, and the community at large.
- As a positive role model, you must take ownership of your duties and responsibilities.
- You must have good organizational skills, able to prioritize work to meet deadlines, work independently and have some flexibility to adapt to changes.
- Able to multitask, to analyze problems and situations, and find appropriate alternatives should there be changes in the conditions and situations in the environment.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- One (1) or more years of related work experience, preferably with a human service agency or educational organization working with persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities will be considered in lieu of the educational requirements.
- Possess a valid CA driver’s license, insurable driving record, and evidence of auto insurance and willing to drive the participants, when necessary either using your personal vehicle (mileage will be paid).
- Must be able to learn quickly and adapt to changes in job assignments.
- Knowledgeable of computers and software use, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and G Suite Workplace.
- Live Scan criminal record clearance (or exemption) before start date.
- Must have health Screening and TB Test clearance. Prior to start date.
- Have the stamina and ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to perform the assigned duties safely and effectively
Great if you have:
- Knowledgeable of Lanterman Act regulations, Regional Center guidelines, and State of California Licensing regulations.
- Certified in First Aid/CPR/AED by a qualified instructor.
