Job Title: Safety Manager 
Reports To: Safety Director
 
Job Description: The Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Field Safety Representatives (FSRs) by providing direct oversight of safety and operational functions to proactively develop, implement, and execute health, safety, security, and environmental plans and ensure compliance with federal, state, local, client, and G&G Enterprises’ requirements.
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Actively promote a positive safety culture aligned with G&G’s core values: Integrity, Safety, Trust, and Quality.
  • Manage FSRs' attendance and direct their participation in the project build team's preconstruction, preinstallation, and coordination meetings.
  • Receive and review method statements, specifications, and credentials/certifications from FSR to verify compliance with safety requirements and provide written feedback to the project build team regarding compliance, potential risk or procedural gaps. 
  • Proactively address potential risks within the construction phases.
  • Continuously review clients’ policies and procedures, recommending standard operating procedures (SOPs) for each project.
  • Review project-specific Emergency Action Plan (EAP), make corrections, approve final and return to FSR for field implementation.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Director in creating policies, procedures, resources, and support documentation.
  • Provide in-depth knowledge of OSHA, NIOSH, and ACGIH regulations and requirements to ensure regulatory compliance across all projects and locations.
  • Communicate all regulatory changes via Outlook to the Safety Director, providing in-depth analysis of current impact and solutions regarding company policy while awaiting directives from the Safety Director in collaboration with Executive Leadership for change adoption and implementation.
  • Administratively assist in applications of the Safety Management System (Autodesk) and ensure its effective implementation.
  • Communicate changes within the Safety Management System (AutoDesk) to the FSR.
  • The Human Resources and Safety Department will collaborate via Outlook regarding scheduling new hire and trade partner onboarding; the Safety Manager will be responsible for accepting invites and leading new hire onboarding as needed.
  • Effectively communicate training certifications provided to G&G employees to the Safety Director for handoff to the Human Resources Department.
  • Conduct weekly Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) audits to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Participate in scheduled client safety meetings and contribute to discussions on safety improvements; communicate with the Safety Director all reoccurring scheduled meetings for clients. 
  • Assist the Safety Director in procurement, tracking using an Excel spreadsheet, and stocking company safety-related materials, such as hard hats, safety glasses, safety vests, fleece, safety horns, first aid kits, signage, etc. 
  • Track and analyze safety metrics and provide reports using a Risk Matrix to the Safety Director for review and decision-making.
  • Administer performance reviews of FSRs.
  • Direct and coordinate preconstruction signage packages with Facilities and Fleet Coordinator and FSRs for distribution to project build teams, ensuring all safety-related documentation is in place before work begins.
  • Completes the “Findings Report” for incidents within 48 hours and submits it to the Safety Director.
  • Assists the Safet Director in incident investigations, near-miss reviews, and compliance reporting as needed.
  • Establish a mentor/mentee relationship with a trusted colleague.
  • Actively seek out, join and participate in at least one (1) professional organization.


Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 4-6 years of leadership experience is required, including practical and theoretical knowledge of construction constructability and safety regulations, with a commitment to continuous education.
  • Must possess OSHA 30-Hour Construction, First Aid/CPR/AED (Instructor)
  • Preferred certifications: Graduate Safety Professional (GSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Construction Site Safety Master (CSSM), OSHA #510, OSHA #500), Train-the-trainer (Core 4 Instructor).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Bluebeam, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively communicate using interpersonal skills.  
 
Schedule: 
40 hours per week, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM Monday – Friday
