The Unit Secretary provides administrative and clerical support for the nursing unit under the direction of the Department Director, PCC or Charge Nurse. Responsibilities include such activities as greeting new patients and visitors, answering telephone and intercom, relaying messages and assisting with necessary records for the patients and the unit; also, offer assistance to staff from other departments. May perform other duties including, but not limited to : specimen transport to lab, transport of blood products from the lab., ordering nourishments/supplies for the unit. Maintaining a clean and organized work station, supply room and nourishment room.
Education REQUIRED: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience preferred: Previous clerical experience with answering multiple phones lines and forwarding calls in a medical setting. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Ability to multi task is needed.
