What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Safety Specialist position at Galaxy Desserts?
The role reports to the Quality Assurance Manager but will also work closely with Production, Sanitation, Warehouse, Maintenance, R&D and Production Finance Departments to collaborate with other teams with respect to achieve our goals and mission.
Key Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Lead and animate the implementation and enforcement of the food safety programs, policies, and procedures with all the Departments involved, in alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements, considering the environment and the manufacturing constraints
- Implement, monitor, and evaluate the food safety key performance indicators for improvements
- Lead the HACCP Program with the HACCP team by conducting the risks assessments of the products (physical, chemical and biological), implementing the proper control measures, monitoring and evaluating their effectiveness to adjust, if necessary, especially regarding the microbiological hazards
- Demonstrates and enforces all GMP’s and safety rules
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of the facility, processes, and products to assess compliance with food safety regulations and company standards
- Identify and address any non-compliance issues or deficiencies with the involved Departments and implement CAPA to resolve them
- Alert if there are any deviations related to Food Safety
- Establish appropriate documentation systems for maintaining records related to food safety
- Develop and deliver food safety training programs for employees, regarding food safety principles, practices, and procedures, from operators to top management
- Animate the communication around the food safety for all employees
- Monitor the recalls and new regulations related to food safety
- Participate in joint projects with other Departments, sites or divisions, especially industrial projects, to ensure the food safety and hygienic conception
- Actively participate in the SQF Edition 9 compliance and audit by maintaining the program with respect to document control and food safety aspects
