Job Description:
As a Spectral Imaging Scientist at GRI, you will work on developing software and algorithms for radiation imaging, 3D mapping, and data fusion. We are in search of a highly motivated individual who can seamlessly integrate with our team, contributing at either the software development or algorithm development level. We value adaptability and are open to a diverse range of expertise, recognizing that our dynamic and evolving team benefits from a variety of skills and perspectives.
GRI seeks proactive, results-oriented candidates who excel both independently and in collaborative settings, bringing together team members from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, field testing systems on a variety of robots and vehicles, both ground and air based, will be encouraged to get first hand experience with how the software will perform in real-world environments.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Developing novel algorithms for gamma-ray spectral processing
- Use radiation data to develop new imaging, mapping and identification approaches
- Write efficient code for real-time data management and processing
- Transition these new algorithms from development to production systems
- Ensuring software meets testing and CI requirements
- System architecture design for fast and efficient processing
- Write software modules in python and C
- Build frameworks for combining sensor data from multiple mapping systems
- Experience contributing to large and complex software systems
- Collecting and analyzing data with 3D mapping systems
- AR/VR/mixed reality data integration
Requirements:
- 3 years experience with programming and data analysis
- Must have experience with at least THREE of the following:
- Python, C
- Spectral processing and unfolding
- Using AI/machine learning on physics data
- Radiation imaging such as gamma-ray or neutron imaging
- Radiation detection sensors
- Tomographic Image reconstruction
- Building 3D visualizations
- ROS
- SLAM
- Augmented reality, such as working with Hololens
- B.S., M.S., or PhD in computer science, nuclear engineering, physics, or related field
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience with gamma-ray and other radiation spectral processing
- Experience with correlated particle imaging, such as Compton imaging or other physics based imaging
- Experience with radiation detection and imaging
- Experience with robotics
- Experience with SLAM
