POSITION TITLE: Finish Assembler
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Finish Assembly Manager, the Finish Assembler will sub-assemble major components and perform the final assembly of vacuum trucks, combination sewer cleaning trucks, and related vacuum equipment. This involves the assembly, installation and integration of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, water and electrical systems. In addition, the Finish Assembler will perform designated quality control functions, inventory control, training of new staff and general shop maintenance as directed. The Finish Assembler will perform these functions in an efficient manner while observing all safety rules and regulations. The Finish Assembler candidate must have his/her own tools and storage box.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assemble and install mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, water & electrical systems and components at various stages of final assembly.
2. Read and understand shop hydraulic, pneumatic and water systems drawings and schematics and assemble systems to print. Be able to understand and follow work instructions.
3. Route, crimp and assemble hydraulic, pneumatic and water lines.
4. Install pumps, motors, driveshafts and other mechanical equipment.
5. Perform basic electrical wiring of low voltage truck systems.
6. Prepare installed equipment with necessary fluids, lubricants, greases, etc.
7. Perform preliminary operational test on installed equipment.
Assembly Process & Product Understanding
- Understand the basic operation of a vacuum truck
- Have a working knowledge of the applications and setups for the different models
- Understand the basic mechanics of a vacuum truck
- Familiarity with blowers, HP, and CFM
- Familiarity with transfer case
- Familiarity with water pumps, GPM, PSI
- Familiarity with sludge pumps
- Familiarity with different types of valves
- Understanding the types of hose and their applications
- Familiarity with pipe fittings, couplers, adapters and their uses
- Familiarity with vacuum nozzles
- Familiarity with water guns and nozzles
- Familiarity with saws and cutters
- Understanding of GapVax system parts (filters, vibrators, pulsators, float balls, etc.)
Fork Lift / Crane
- Understand and operate the forklift and cranes according to safety policy
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or GED and have a mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic background in a manufacturing or service environment
2. Must have experience reading and understanding blueprints
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
4. Experience operating a forklift / crane
5. Must have basic hand tools and appropriate storage
6. Must have high standards of quality and pride in work
7. Ability to learn the operation of all types of trucks and accessories
8. Able to solve problems and think analytically
9. Must be able to work effectively independently and with others

Cooperation
