Barista/Sales Associate

GELATIAMO BARISTA/SALES ASSOCIATE JOB DESCRIPTION

Gelatiamo, Seattle’s iconic first gelato and Italian pastries shop, is now looking for a Barista/Sales Associate to prepare and serve espresso beverages, our exceptional gelato and our delightful pastries and baked goods.

Responsibilities include educating customers on our menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, up-selling special items, and taking orders. To be successful in this role, you should have great customer service skills and knowledge of how to operate an espresso machine is a plus. You should also be able to work various shifts and weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Greet customers as they enter and thank them as they leave
• Take orders while paying attention to details
• Keep the counter area clean
• Maintain a clean and inviting environment which includes the product display cases
• Maintain stock of all items necessary to sell and serve the customer
• Check if all equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
• Comply with health and safety regulations
• Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

• Previous work experience as a Barista/Sales Associate in a café/bakery environment
• Knowledge of sanitation regulations
• Flexibility to work various shifts
• Ability to gauge customers' preferences
• Excellent communication skills
• Love for coffee and desserts

A Barista/Sales Associate warmly welcomes customers into their establishment. They create and serve hot and/or cold beverages, gelato and pastries always pointing out how Gelatiamo makes everything on site with original Italian recipes. They are responsible for taking customer orders and payments. They also clean and sanitize their work areas, seating areas, and equipment/tools.

A successful candidate has good attention to detail with great communication skills. They should be able to handle food properly and memorize ingredients while also making changes when asked by customers. Their memory skills should be sharp as this will add efficiency to a customer's experience, enhancing a barista's customer service skills.

The ultimate goal is to create a pleasing experience for customers while fulfilling drinks, gelato and pastries/cakes orders. The perfect candidate will often collaborate with the Store/Production Manager to ensure customer satisfaction while increasing revenue for their establishment.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.50 - $21.71 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
