General Council on Finance and Administration is Hiring a Benefits Assistant Near Nashville, TN

Description

The General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA) presently seeking candidates for an addition to the Human Resources team in the position of the Benefits Assistant. GCFA seeks a Human Resources professional who will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day administration of employee and retiree General Agencies Welfare Benefits Program (GAWBP) benefits programs. The Benefits Assistant will be responsible for analyzing benefit data. This position will also be responsible for responding to benefit related questions and escalating complex benefit issues to appropriate HR Manager. This role will be expected to be in the office two to three days a week, or as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the administration of the General Agencies Welfare Benefits Plan (GAWBP) benefits program, as designed by CPPP and approved by GCFA.
  • Coordinates the distribution of informational literature and assists in the development of oral presentations to notify and advise employees of eligibility for benefits programs, including Open Enrollment.
  • Oversee the benefit related administrative functions of the including, but not limited to updating the UMCWell website, newsletters for retiree and active participants, billing reconciliations, death notices, error reports, claims reclassifications, FSA and HSA Transfers and administration of wellness program materials.
  • Responds to benefits issues involving employees, retirees, and/or plan design issues. Answers basic benefits questions and escalates questions to the HR Ministry Manager as needed.
  • Assists in the preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies. Assists in the preparation of benefit statistical and census data for actuaries, insurance carriers, and management.
  • Responsible for checking HR mail two to three days per week or as needed.
  • Backup for recruitment related phone screens and expense reimbursements
  • Other duties assigned.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Human Resources is required, Bachelors Degree is preferred.
  • HR Certification Preferred. Group Benefits Associate (GBA) certification preferred.
  • 1-3 years of Employee Benefits experience is required.
  • Knowledge of HR and Benefits regulations (EEOC, FMLA, ACA, Health Care Reform, etc).
  • Basic Accounting skills required.
  • Must have excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, high-impact communication style.
  • Able to work independently; self-starter; problem solver with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Understanding of or willingness to learn UMC polity and organizational structure is essential. UMC Member is preferred.
