Job Description: Food Service Manager
Job Requirements
· Must be 18 years of age
· Background verification check
· Read staff policy and procedure handbook and sign that you understand its context
· Fill out required forms to be kept in your personnel file
· Complete and pass a physical and TB skin test within thirty days of hire
· Wear hairnet or hat while in the kitchen
· Be able to lift to forty pounds
Job Responsibilities
· Prepare weekly menus that reflect all state requirements
· Work with Program directors for approval of menus
· Prepare lunch and afternoon snacks for all classrooms
· Serve meals to each classroom on schedule, at the appropriate temperature
· Lunch service will require organization in the dining room or in the classroom as directed by the lead team.
· Work with staff to collect daily meal numbers before food preparation of each meal
· Prepare appropriate amounts of food for each classroom, with amounts served meeting state guidelines
· Maintain daily production reports
· Make weekly food orders through vendors
· Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including all food storage areas
· Make sure all thermometers are working properly
· Ensure all food items are checked for expiration dates
· Wash and sanitize all dishes
· Clean the entire kitchen and appliances throughout the day
· Remove trash and recyclables daily
· Organize and put away all groceries, food orders and non-food items
· Keep all receipts and pre-prepared foot item labels (CN labels) and include with weekly report to the administrative assistant.
· Know and follow the mission of GMELC
· Protect the privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to families, children, team members, and directors
· Build positive relationships and communicate in a respectful manner with families, children, team members, administration, directors, and the communities in which we serve
Education Requirements:
· Minimum of four hours of annual training in:
· Menu Planning
· DPI Training
· Food Safety and Nutrition
· Other food related topics
Compensation/salary is determined by level of experience and education. Additional benefits include:
