POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, prepares and/or compounds prescriptions for verification by a registered pharmacist. Assists all pharmacy staff in the accurate processing of prescription orders.

PRIMARY TASKS & DUTIES
- Communicate in a positive, respectful and professional manner with customers/patients, clinic staff, pharmacy co-workers, vendors and contractors at all times.
- Supports the mission statement to develop, enhance, and promote quality patient service through team efforts.
- Gives input and supports management/practice decisions.
- Intake/Drop Off: Receive written prescriptions or refill requests and verify that the information is complete and accurate. Written prescriptions received at drop off will be reviewed with customer/patient to verify name, physical address, telephone number, date of birth and any known drug allergies. This information, if not present on the prescription, will be written on the face of the prescriptions before being scanned into workflow.
- Properly bill the prescription with the correct insurance or 340b pricing.
- Fill bottles with prescribed medications and affix labels for pharmacist verification.
- Help maintain medication inventory and supplies by actively participating in the reordering and restocking process.
- Fill waiting prescriptions in a timely manner so they can be promptly verified by a pharmacist.
- Correctly file hard copies of prescriptions.
- Answer telephones promptly.
- Assist customers/patients in person or on the telephone with questions within your scope of practice. Refer customer/patient to pharmacist if additional assistance is needed.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent. Must be able to speak read, write and understand English.
- Professional
- General computer competence including basic Word and potential to be trained on specific software for patient information, billing and communication.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Must have completed an accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program or 3 years’ experience
- Pharmacy Technician License in good standing with no restrictions from the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy
- Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner.
- Experience with customer service or working with the general public, preferably in a medical care setting
- General computer competence including basic Word with the need to be trained in facility specific software and equipment for patient information, billing, and communication.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Must be participate in on boarding and annual health assessment
Physical/Environmental
- Ability to interact with computer screen for up to six hours at a time (visual acuity required).
- Must have manual dexterity for use of keyboard. Ability to remain stationary for periods of up to four hours. Ability to communicate via phone, mail and in person to resolve disputes, solve problems, etc.
- Capacity to function in a sometimes stressful, multi-tasking environment.

Pay: $16.00 - $23.35 per hour
