Who We Are

George Howell Coffee is an artisanal coffee roaster with a flagship cafe at The Godfrey Hotel in Boston, two smaller cafés in Boston Public Market and Newtonville. Later this winter we are opening a café / wine bar in the heart of Harvard Square within the setting of a vibrant new bookstore.

As a company, we are passionate about our guests and want them to take part in the adventure as we explore the rainbow of coffee flavors and wine offerings. With the opening of our café inside the Lovestruck bookstore, we want to bring that same passion and adventure to our guests in Harvard Square!

Description

Experienced Bartender with the ability to serve wine, mocktails, coffee and espresso beverages in a consistent manner and according to recipes. Must have the ability to provide quality customer service and demonstrate a knowledge of products ' wine knowledge preferred. Must be able to provide friendly, individualized attention toward each customer.

CORE TASKS

• You must be able to explain the beverage menu and be well-versed in the products available
• Ensure customers are warmly received and welcomed and engaged in sincere and friendly conversation.
• Respond to questions/orders/concerns in a professional manner.
• Anticipate customer needs by constantly evaluating the environment and customers for clues.
• Facilitate easy dialogue regarding product offerings with customers.
• Actively participate in training sessions to advance your beverage education.
• Craft beverages that adhere to the company's quality standards.
• Communicate effectively with customers and co-workers
• Respond proactively to prevent negative customer service situations.
• Accurately ring sales orders into POS system and counts back change to the customers in a courteous and friendly manner.
• Restock bar and retail shelves when necessary.
• Routinely clean the bar area

Physical Characteristics (Physical attributes required with or without a reasonable accommodation)

• Maintain stationary (e.g., standing) for extended periods of time frequently and be on your feet for up to 8 hours per shift
• Move around the café throughout the day assisting staff and customers, as well as performing shift responsibilities constantly
• Move and lift supplies, equipment, boxes, and other items up to 50 pounds from the floor to shelves, under the counter, and up a set of stairs frequently
• Shift position in multiple directions to work all stations in the kitchen and behind the counter in the front of the house
• Reach items under counter and overhead on shelves frequently
• Tolerate exposure to cleaning solutions frequently

• Experience as a bartender for 1 years

• Shifts will be late afternoon to evening ' 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM
