Job Description

Job Title : Day Camp Assistant Manager FLSA Status : Seasonal

Department : Camp Services Reports To : Day Camp Manager

Location : Kodosky Service Center Rate : $500 / week

Job Purpose : Oversees all camp activities, programming, campers, and staff for summer day camp in coordination with and direction of the Day Camp Manager. The GSCTX Day Camp Assistant Manager promotes unity, positivity, and customer-friendly service throughout all facets of the camp.

Essential Functions

Promote and support Girl Scout program philosophies of the GSUSA & GSCTX.
Responsible for coordinating all camp activities including food service, programming, scheduling, and staff management with Day Camp Manager.
Ensure camp provides quality programming and camp experience for campers in keeping with Girl Scout objectives, outcomes, Health Department regulations, and Safety Activity Checkpoints.
Responsible for ensuring health and safety of all campers and staff.
Responsible for maintaining cohesive camp environment by communicating with volunteers, staff, Day Camp Manager, and Camp Services Director.
Work with and teach children ages six through seventeen.
Provide quality customer service that resolves concerns in a timely manner.
Engages in problem-solving skills, by clarifying desired information, researching, locating and delivering findings and solutions.
Displays professional demeanor, and integrity at all times.
Maintains strict confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
Ability to effectively interact, work, and collaborate with people of various cultural backgrounds and promote an environment of inclusivity.
Adheres to the policies of the Girl Scouts of Central Texas and promotes Girl Scouting in a positive manner to the public as well as to all internal and external customers.
Performs other duties or assists other projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Must be 21 years of age by June 1, 2025.

Adheres to Personnel Policies for Seasonal Camp Staff.

Experience as a group leader, camper, or teacher is required.

Proven leadership ability in working with youth.

Proven ability to supervise multiple staff and activities continuously.

Ability to make a commitment to the philosophy of Girl Scouting, both nationally and locally.

Ability to effectively interact, work, and collaborate with people of various cultural backgrounds and promote an environment of inclusivity.

Satisfactory results from a criminal background check are required.

Preferred Qualifications

Training in Girl Scout outdoor program, camp counseling, leadership, and training techniques is preferred.

First aid training is desirable.

Fluent in Spanish and English is preferred.

Physical Requirements

Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending and twisting upper body.

Capable of lifting up to 50lbs.

Capable of viewing computer monitor for long periods.

Environmental Demands

Outdoor activity and exposure to weather.

Continuous requirement for professional demeanor and appropriate camp staff attire.

A criminal background check is required.

Continuous work as a team member and ability to work independently with some supervision.

Frequent work under stress and under pressure of deadlines with overlapping projects.

Continuous ability to work well with others.
