Description
As a Retail Sales & Services Associate Intern, you will work directly with our Retail Sales & Services staff who are responsible for the operations and marketing of retail sales and services including the Girl Scout Shop and special sales events. This internship will be approximately 10-20 hours per week and is eligible for college credit, if applicable. Interns are paid minimum wage (currently $13.75) per hour worked.
Essential Functions
- Providing customer service to shoppers and utilizing sales skills to promote product.
- Administer inventory management.
- Assist in purchasing and receiving product.
- Complete visual merchandising within the Girl Scout Shop and at events.
What will you gain from this experience?
- You will learn fundamental customer service skills for use with both internal and external clients.
- You will learn core inventory management principals and best practices including all components of the purchasing cycle (buying, receiving, merchandising, selling, replenishment, price changes, and overview of Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) requirements in the retail environment), cycle counts, and annual physical inventory.
- You will learn to use the core Sandler Selling models in the retail environment.
- You will learn visual merchandising methodologies and best practices.
Work Location
This position is an in-person position; requiring you to be in-office at then Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri office at the GSEM Shop location, as well as occasional days at our camp locations or special events.

Qualifications
Interns must be enrolled in a graduate, bachelor's or associate's degree program and have completed at least one (1) semester of college. Interns must be pursuing a degree relevant to the role. Interns may or may not receive academic credit for the internship. If an intern seeks academic credit for the internship, it is up to the intern to establish this through their educational institution.
Internships are temporary assignments offered for up to a maximum of four (4) semester periods. Intern work scheduled may vary depending upon course credit requirements, intern scheduling preferences, needs for time off, etc. Interns may work up to twenty (20) hours per week during the school year and up to thirty (30) hours per week during the summer.
