SECTOR : LA County - DPW-Public Works

TITLE : Server Systems Administrator 471

LOCATION : 900 S. Fremont Ave., Alhambra, CA , 91803

HOURS PER WEEK : 40hrs

SHIFT : Standard ( 7 : 15am - 6pm )

POSITION : 1

ASSIGNMENT TYPE : Temporary ( 12months w / high chance of extension or direct hire with LA County)

TARGET START DATE : 07 / 08 / 24

PAYRATE : $70-$75 / hr W2

DESCRIPTION

Provisioning and configuring new virtual servers in vxRail environment.
Optimizing VM performance and identifying and remediating issues.
Mitigating zero-day security issues on servers and infrastructure.
Writing clear, grammatically correct communications and documentation in English.
Configuring DHCP, creating and configuring DNS entries.
Administering MS Outlook 2016.
Administering core infrastructure operations, storage and back-up systems upgrades and migrations to new technologies and platforms.
Writing PowerShell scripts.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of ten (10) years of experience implementing and maintaining virtualized systems and networks, with at least four (4) years of that supporting VMWare infrastructure and software (ESXi Hypervisor Appliances running on vxRail, using VShere, VCenter, VRops and ControlUp tools.)

Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting MS Active Directory and associated domain controller systems as noted above (DNS, DHCP, etc.), and doing the following :

Provisioning and configuring new virtual servers in vxRail environment, including VMWare NSX and Aria tools.

Troubleshooting and correcting VM performance bottlenecks or problems.

Utilizing the following tools : Hyena, CoreView, MS WebIAM, Powershell 7.

VMWare tools – vCenter, vShere, Aria, vRops, ControlUp.

Utilizing Veritas Netback-up software, architecture, and configuring tape back-ups.

Administering Dell EMC Unity family storage appliances (Linux based OS).

Administering VMWare Horizons remote desktop connectivity software and UAG (Uniform Access Gateway) associated environment.

Administering Azure Entra (formerly AD).

This classification requires the possession of a bachelor’s degree in an IT-related or Engineering field. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

California Resident Candidates Only. Work is expected to be done initially onsite. Possibility for remote work part time.

Interviews in person; may consider virtual, depending on candidate location.

Work schedule is M-Thurs 7 : 15am-6pm (10 hours) at Public Works HQ in Alhambra, CA 91803.
