Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical engineering assignments associated with designing consumer and industrial satellite telecommunications products.
• Under minimal guidance, prepare intermediate to advanced level specifications for project assignments detailing performance requirements, specific component needs, design requirements, and drawing requirements
• Prepare engineering sketches, perform engineering calculations and develop analysis models for moderately complex project assignments
• Review and/or approve vendor drawings for compliance with project specifications
• Interact and communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors and other consultants
• Set realistic expectations and ensure assigned projects are completed according to schedule and within budget
• Develop and execute environmental and mechanical test plans to verify compliance with specifications and requirements
• Manage supplier and vendor technical approval processes to ensure manufacturing standards are adhered to
• Work with suppliers and vendors to ensure designs are manufacturable and develop complex assembly procedures
• Adhere to company quality standards and follow engineering checking and approval procedures
  
  

Required Skills And Experience

• BS or MS degree, in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of five years of post-college experience in a mechanical engineering position, preferably involving consumer electronics
• Hands on expertise with SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM
• Experience writing requirements or technical specifications driven from high level user stories
• Ability to prototype designs quickly for evaluating new concepts and managing risks
• Experience with antenna integrations into product housings.
• Experience with high volume plastic mold design for manufacturing
• Experience using a bug tracking system or software managed development process (e.g., JIRA)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively
• Able to self-manage and prioritize multiple projects with aggressive due dates
• Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks of yourself and others
• Strong communication skills
• Must maintain a high level of energy and positive attitude through challenging situations and project demands.
• Willingness and enthusiasm to work both independently and within a team environment.
