Golden Oil Company is seeking a reliable, and personable Assistant Manager for our BP branded convenience store. The Assistant Manager is directly responsible to aide and assist the manager with maintaining an efficient and proper operation within Company policy in such a manner as to ensure that the store contributes to maximum revenue generation, customer satisfaction, expense control and profitability. Additionally, the C Store Assistant Manager is responsible for helping the Manager recruit, train and develop, and retain quality employees that provide maximum productivity on all shifts to ensure that their store location is clean, sanitary, well stocked, and ready for business at all times.
Responsibilities
- Report to work in proper uniform with name and badge attached.
- Perform all general shift duties as trained and complete all specific tasks assigned by the Area Manager.
- Operate the shift within Company Guidelines.
- Adhere to all city, county and state beverage laws.
- Provide each customer with prompt and courteous service.
- Direct and assist store staff in all tasks necessary to maintain sanitary and housekeeping standards resulting in a monthly store inspection grade of at least 90%.
Customer Service:
- Provide an absolute role model for each employee in the practice for excellence in customer service.
- Offer assistance to any customer looking around the store.
- Store Managers will practice each element of customer service and will train each employee to provide excellence in customer service.
Safety
- Provide an absolute role model for each employee in the practice of robbery deterrence and safety awareness.
- Practice and observe all robbery deterrence and safety awareness techniques and train each employee in each template.
Accounting
- Train each employee to properly prepare a shift change report in accordance with Company guidelines and training.
- Compile, input, reconcile, and balance each component of the daily close out and complete end-of-the-day accounting to ensure that the daily paperwork is completed.
- Prepare daily bank deposit and deposit current paperwork date’s deposit into depository bank.
- Secure all daily reports, invoices, gas reports, and maintain for a month until audits are reconciled.
- Reconcile each shift sheet’s individual drops and compare to actual cash dropped by the employee.
- Verify and reconcile store cash fund daily.
Personnel Issues
- Properly train hourly employees how to sign in/sign out.
- Correct hours worked by hourly employees daily. No working off the clock.
- Provide an absolute role model as you conduct yourself within established store decorum guidelines as defined in training.
- Conduct job specific performance interviews with employees as needed to improve job performance within guidelines defined in training.
Store Staffing:
- Staff store with the required number of employees to operate at budgeted hours without overtime or over budget exceptions.
- Complete and post schedule in advance of days and hours worked for each employee.
- Make sure hours are checked daily and adjust as needed.
Inventory & Cash Control:
- Responsible for controlling inventory to attain and maintain inventory shortage.
- Conduct a minimum of one cash audit weekly.
- Strictly follow and enforce the Vendor Check In policy and personally touch counts all merchandise received into the store.
Merchandising:
- Products are to be properly rotated to maintain freshness of products and minimize spoilage write offs.
- Grocery items that are date sensitive are to be checked weekly when groceries are placed on the shelf. Any grocery item with an expired freshness date is to be removed from sale and written off.
- Shelf products are to be cleaned, dusted, fronted, and faced by each shift.
- Coolers and drink boxers are to be front faced and stocked each shift.
- Charge correct retail for products sold as listed in Price Book or Grocery order book.
