Golden Pass LNG, a joint venture of Qatar Petroleum & ExxonMobil, has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer at our Sabine Pass, TX location (approximately 10 minutes from Port Arthur, TX). The Electrical Engineer is responsible for identifying and implementing Golden Pass LNG and industry recognized standards for the technical aspects of electrical maintenance and engineering work. The Electrical Engineer also provides support to the various manufacturing units by identifying and implementing electrical solutions or improvements to facility equipment.
The Electrical Engineer role is a DOT covered position (PHMSA).
Essential Duties / Functions

Essential Duties / Functions
- Support overall operation of electrical power systems and electrical equipment.
- Work closely with Operations and Maintenance personnel to troubleshoot electrical problems (including medium to high voltage equipment). Provide second-level troubleshooting when equipment issues are beyond the technical knowledge of the Electrical Technician.
- Act as electrical resource with Engineering Department for site capital projects to ensure that site policies, procedures, standards and specifications, and operational needs are met.
- Provide technical support and assistance to all units on issues such as control strategies, electrical distribution safety and maintenance.
- Mark and approve electrical drawings when required.
- Participate in area Process Hazard Analysis/Reviews when required.
- Provide checkout and start-up support of facilities to meet production and business needs.
- Guide and train area personnel on electrical technologies to assist reliability improvement efforts.
- Create and maintain documentation, files, procedures, and drawings to ensure integrity and continuity of site equipment.
- Responsible for ensuring electrical aspects of all new, modified or altered equipment meet design criteria, internal Golden Pass standards and external regulatory requirements.
- Responsible lead project engineer on select cost/capital projects
- Provide Operations with technical support on chronic reliability issues. Implement site reliability improvement initiatives.
- Provide input to all proposed Management of Changes to ensure changes do not conflict with Golden Pass and industry standards (as well as site’s reliability objectives) while ensuring that both personnel and equipment risks in their areas have been assessed and addressed prior to implementing the changes.
- Establish and monitor reliability metrics to monitor electrical equipment health and performance (uptime, MTBR, MTTR, etc.).
- Provide input into training requirements/plans for Electrical Technicians and Operators.
- Act as primary contact with Power Supplier and site tenants to address reliability and technical issues on electrical distribution systems.
- Support site on electrical classification analysis.
- Support, maintain, and improve site electrical distribution systems.
Minimum education required of the position.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 7 years of related experience in petroleum or chemical manufacturing facility with LNG facility experience preferred
- Experience with low, medium and high voltage electrical systems and equipment.
- Experience with Electrical Control and Monitoring Systems
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Must have knowledge of general Industrial Health, Safety and Environmental management systems and practices.
- Demonstrated knowledge of load shedding and load shedding sequences
- Thorough understanding of electrical distribution systems and high, medium and low voltage electrical equipment.
- Able to direct activities of electrical contractors and vendors.
- Working knowledge of IEC 61850 protocol
- Ability to determine settings of electrical protection relays and use of GE Enervista (for programming protective relays)
- Able to navigate the electrical system model using SKM PowerTools
- Working knowledge of Arc Flash standards such as IEEE 1584 and Electrical Safe Work practices (NFPA 70E)
- Familiar with NEC (NFPA 70), API RP 500 (Area Classification) and OSHA electrical safety requirements
- Familiar with industry maintenance standards such as ANSI/NETA MTS-2019: Maintenance Testing Specifications For Electrical Power Equipment
- State issued Current and Valid Driver’s License – Pursuant to PHMSA, this is a DOT covered position with all applicable laws and regulations pertaining thereof.
