Who We Are

Golden Queen Mining Co., LLC (the “Company”) operates a gold and silver, open pit, heap leach operation on its Soledad Mountain property, located just outside the town of Mojave in Kern County in southern California. The Project uses conventional open pit mining methods and the cyanide heap leach and Merrill-Crowe processes to recover gold and silver from crushed, agglomerated ore.

Who You Are

You hold a Bachelor’s degree in geology, geological engineering, or a related field. You communicate and present information clearly and effectively. You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and may also have experience with software like MineSite, Leapfrog or Surpac. You work well as a collaborative team member.

This is a safety sensitive position. As the Geologist you report to the Chief Geologist. 

What You Do

• Collaborate closely with the Chief Geologist.
• Coordinate with the Chief Geologist, Mine Planning Engineer, and Surveyor.
• Provide input into short to medium term resource planning – 3 month to 1 year and provide support to ensure it is achieved.
• Plan diamond drill targets and programs targeting short to medium term for the contractor – 3 months to 1 year.
• Compare diamond drill results to the block model to validate 
• Plan and communicate the workflow and scheduling of the junior Geologists.
• Create and supervise the creation of diamond drill layouts. 
• Actively supervise grade control procedures and work as a Grade Control Technician as required
• Monitor and report on mine stockpiles and delivery to the mill.
• Conduct mine to mill reconciliation processes and report out on variances.
• Carry out sampling procedures at working faces or drill rigs, deliver samples to the lab, and receive sampling data from the lab.
• Mark ore at the working faces as needed.
• Gather and present information for exploration and infill drilling discussions.
• Adhere to the company’s safety and health policies.
• Conduct field mapping.
• Collect channel samples in the field.
• Enter data and prepare sections using software like MineSite or Surpac.
• Maintain a database of exploration and infill drill hole data.
• Set up or collect geological sampling points or features in the field.
• Carry out routine reporting and administrative duties as required. 
• Take part in staff meetings as required.
• Prepare and submit reports as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Actively support Health and Environmental Management systems and regulatory compliance.

What You Bring

• Degree in Geology or relevant tertiary qualification is required
• Registered Professional Geologist or Geoscientist from a recognized Association is preferred
• 5 - 8 years of experience as a mining geologist is preferred, 
• Experience in ore control, advanced statistical analytical techniques, and using mining software that includes 3D modelling
• Familiarity with structurally controlled gold deposits would be an asset
• Valid driver’s license required.

Salary : $97,375 - $123,150
