Job Description / Essential Elements :
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under general direction, provides instruction and services for those pupils whose needs have been identified in an individualized educational program developed by the individualized education program developed by the individualized education program team and who are assigned to regular classroom teachers for the majority of a school day.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITITES
- Consult with parents, regular classroom teacher and other specialists regarding students who have been admitted to the Resource Specialist Program.
- Assess students to determine present performance levels, learning styles and areas of disability.
- Prepare and maintain appropriate student records, files and reports.
- Assume primary responsibility for development and implementation of the Individualized Education Plan and the IEP team meeting.
- Provide instruction and services to students enrolled in the Resource Specialist Program.
- Coordinate special education services and regular classroom activities for students enrolled in the Resource Specialist Program.
- Plan and coordinate the work of instructional aides.
- Prepare schedules and timelines to implement educational activities.
- Evaluate and review pupils' academic and social progress.
- Maintain professional competence through participation in personnel development activities.
- Create a functional and attractive environment for learning.
- Provides appropriate inservice to site staff to enable them to be involved in implementing appropriate programs for assigned students.
- Provides information regarding education and services to parents.
- Other duties as assigned.
