Job Title: Outlet General Manager

Department: Donated Goods Retail (DGR)

Reports to: Director of Donated Goods Post Retail

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary: $60,000

Position Summary:

Supervises the management team in the day-to-day operations to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation of the outlet, dock, salvage, and donations workforce through the security of all GWH assets, customer relations, sale of donated goods, inventory controls, and accurate transactions, to maximize profitability and increase training opportunities. Assists with providing direction, job training, supervision, development, and support for all team members concerning the proper handling of goods, leading to increased revenues for mission services funding.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures alignment and consistency of all aspects of the outlet location operations including SOPs, Reference Guides, job descriptions, performance evaluations, observation checklists, production standards, training, Safety Program, and other documents related to DGR systems.
  • Supervises Department Managers, the Outlet team, and Donation Specialists.
  • Supervises and assist with the coordination of after-market resale and salvage operation and ensures appropriate operational systems and resources are in place to generate maximum profitability.
  • Supervises the promotion, collection, transportation, production, sales, and external/internal distribution of donated products, related operational and sales activities are properly integrated to achieve maximum profitability and quality customer service.
  • Supervises logistics with vendors, maximizing post-retail revenue opportunities and minimizing disposal costs.
  • Oversees and assists management in aiming for zero waste to further GWH green environment initiatives.
  • Ensures hazardous materials are handled in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations and GWH policies and procedures.
  • Maintains accurate inventory control of goods.
  • Responsible register pulls, readings, cash reports, daily activity reports, transmittal of reports, and daily deposits in accordance with GWH policies and procedures.
  • Supervises and supports the hiring, training, and development of team members.
  • After completing the GWH Train the Trainer program, conduct periodic training sessions for team members and strictly adhere to GWH’s processes and procedures for forklift and electrical stacker training.
  • Supervises the scheduling and productive use of the labor force.
  • Oversees that the maintenance of the building and equipment is in compliance with company standards. and ordering supplies.
  • Ensures good stewardship of all donations, through proper handling and processing of incoming donations in accordance with GHW policies and procedures.
  • Ensure store security safety of GWH team members and property according to policies and procedures.
  • Ensures labor and payroll is maintained in accordance with GWH policies and procedures.
  • Instill a service-conscious attitude and minimize service failures and injuries in team members.
  • Ensures that incident reports, vehicle defects, traffic violations, or damage to vehicles before and after route, equipment, and maintenance needs are reported in a timely manner.
  • Ensures the proper rotation of apparel and hard goods in a timely manner and in accordance with GWH’s policies and procedures.
  • Keep abreast of merchandise knowledge, industry trends, and competitive pricing.
  • Ensure that statistical counts are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Must perform necessary janitorial work.
  • Confirms information needed for WESA Reports is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Communicates with ADC, transportation, store, and district leadership to ensure GWH processing guidelines are being followed for excellence throughout the system.
  • Ensures all team members are using required personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Ensures table rotations, trailer unloading, and salvage processing goals daily.
  • Responsible for duties of the Dock Manager when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

  • Must conduct work in a safe manner; maintain good housekeeping standards, have all aisles and pathways to fire exists clear and free from clutter, and keep work areas neat and clean.
  • May be asked to attend training sessions and participate in activities outside GWH.
  • Adheres to local, state and federal laws and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in warehouse setting preferred.
  • Six (6) months of experience in a supervisorial role, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, communicate effectively, and perform basic mathematical skills.
  • Must be able to become forklift certified.
  • Effectively lead a team toward the achievement of organizational objectives, and coach team members toward self-actualization.
  • Effectively use computer applications, including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheets, GPS, Internet/Intranet, and other applications as determined appropriate by GWH.
  • Proficiency in salvage loading techniques, loading types, tracking, and reporting.
  • Skill in operation monitoring, watching indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

The ability to continuously stand/walk for the duration of the shift, frequently push/pull, occasionally bend/stoop/crawl/kneel/reach above shoulders, and climb a ladder. Able to lift, up to, 40 lbs. (fixture parts, cartons of product). Specific vision abilities including close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.An indoor work environment with exposure to outside temperatures.
