Quality assistant

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Department manger, Nursing Supervisor, and / or RN, the Quality Assistant performs chart audits, answers the telephone and communicates information to the appropriate individuals and areas.

Essential Functions :

• The Quality Assistant assists with communications between Department Manager, House Supervisor and unit staff regarding the 24-Hour Report, admissions, transfers and bed availability to operationalize department activities.
• Answer phone, faxes request for patient information and physician discharge instructions to primary care provider per HIPAA guidelines.
• Organizes, maintains, and updates departmental files and records (., patient’s clinical record, unit statistics, old records, in an accurate manner to provide for timely and efficient processing of information.
• Copies and faxes records in a prompt manner according to established medical records policy in order to fulfill requests from appropriate sources
• Assumes responsibility for ordering and restocking supplies necessary for efficient operation of the department within budgetary parameters.
• Notifies Engineering / Maintenance Department promptly regarding repairs for the unit to assure safe operation of the department.
• The Quality Assistant orients new department quality assistants and nurses as assigned to the role and function of the department quality assistant.

Schedule : Full time, Day shift, Three 12 hour shifts per week

Qualifications

Education and Experience :

High School Diploma / GED required
