Position Summary/Objective:
The Supply Chain Manager will play a critical role in growing the success of our business by focusing on providing our customer with industry leading support and quality of product. The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the development and execution of sourcing strategies to leverage relationships within and across the business enterprise to achieve best total value. Includes Category and or Commodity management strategies and execution, supplier relationship management, negotiation, risk management and supply base performance management. Individual is responsible for the complete range of strategic sourcing activities including spend analysis, strategy formulation, contract negotiations, and supplier quality/performance.
Essential Functions
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Will be on computer for a majority of the day, every day.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.
- Must be able to travel as needed via air and car.
- Must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time at an office workstation.
Competencies
- Develop, communicate and execute growth strategies with primary suppliers and sales leadership to drive profitable growth in the commodities and switchgear segments.
- Work directly with key supplier partners and sales leadership to commodities strategies. This includes organization, product, pricing and regional and specific customer growth strategies.
- Work with sales, key suppliers and project coordination to develop end to end processes to win and execute on large customer projects from opportunity identification through project completion.
- Optimize commodities inventory levels at the distribution centers and branch level based on market needs and financial return.
- Collaborate with sales and pricing teams to implement competitive and profitable day-to-day selling strategies.
- Develop a keen understanding of local market distributor/manufacturer competition and market selling levels.
- Maintain a solid working knowledge of essential commodity trends including industry trends, cost drivers, global pricing, material lead times, and technical/manufacturing processes.
- Manage daily purchasing requirements for assigned commodities. This includes demand analysis, order placement, and order point management.
- Follow up with suppliers concerning order status and delivery and communicate delivery information to impacted departments.
- Work closely with marketing to identify item promotion potential and promotion structure.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management, or Supply Chain Management.
- 3 - 5 Years’ experience in Purchasing / Supply Chain Management, preferably in a distribution environment.
- CPSM or CPIM preferred
- Strong analytical and financial skills.
- Excellent inventory management skills.
- Ability to understand raw material commodity markets and impacts on supplier pricing.
Hands-on role requiring willingness and ability to be both the strategist and tactician.
