Head Football Coach
Grapevine Faith Christian School exists to develop and graduate authentic Christian leaders.
Status: Full-Time / Exempt / 12 - month
Coach Summary:
The Head Football Coach will maximize the powerful platform of athletics for the purpose of developing, training and educating students in football to enhance the potential of all athletes. The coach will fill this crucial role through prayer, practice and discipline. The coach will report to the Athletic Director.
Responsibilities:
- Seeks to role model in speech, actions, and attitude, a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ and exemplifies a Christ-like character both on and off the field.
- Responsible for the positive development of players in academics, athleticism, football skills, and their daily walk with Jesus Christ.
- Oversee the entire football program to include grades 6-12.
- Perform all head coach responsibilities to include budgeting, scheduling, staffing, summer programming, game statistics reporting, etc.
- Work closely with the Athletic Director on program development, training, hiring, retention and evaluation of the football coaching staff.
- Manage and supervise daily practices, scrimmages and games to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline and respect that honor The Lord.
- Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide both individual and team development.
- Follow established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies and uniforms.
- Maintain records to ensure compliance with all pertinent TAPPS and GFCS regulations, including eligibility forms, transfer forms and attendance.
- Schedule transportation and officials for football games.
- Instructs athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
- Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.
- Develop relationships with college coaches to advocate for the recruitment of student athletes.
- Advocate on behalf of deserving players eligible for postseason awards/accolades and collegiate scholarships.
- Actively involved and integrated into the ministry opportunities and special activities of the school such as mission trips, service projects, retreats, pep rallies, banquets and parent nights.
- Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student athletes.
- Maintains discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the school athletic program and school community.
- Update the Athletic Director frequently about any issues, concerns, or highlights.
- Reports all injuries/accidents in a timely manner to the school trainer.
- Attend staff development meetings, clinics and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
- Attend district and state coaches meetings as required.

- Maintain and uphold the religious standards of Faith Christian School to include the Lifestyle Statement, Staff Covenant and Statement of Faith.
- Responsible to disciple, instruct and actively pray for the students on our campus.
- Responsible to reinforce a Biblical Worldview in every workplace interaction with students, staff & faculty.
- This position may be paired with other responsibilities such as strength and conditioning, teaching and/or other coaching roles.
- Other duties as assigned that are closely related.
Qualifications:
- Must possess and model a personal authentic relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Must possess a coaching philosophy that embraces the mission and core values of Faith.
- Must possess knowledge of rules, regulations, strategies and techniques of football at the varsity level.
- Must have at least 5 years of football coaching experience at the high school level in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated admin skills in scheduling, organizing and managing a football program from 6-12th grade.
- A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- Proven experience discipling and mentoring young men on and off the field.
- Mastered knowledge of the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary to effectively run a successful football program.
- Experience building a football program at the lower levels to support the future of the varsity team.
- Must have a high level of discernment and wisdom, and the ability to manage confidential information.
- Excellent communication skills with players, parents, staff and coaches.
- Prefer experience and/or expertise in strength and conditioning programming for schools.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with established school policies and procedures, and the school mission and core values.
- Must be a member in good standing of a Bible believing church and lead a mature Christian life.
- Uses acceptable English in written and oral communication. Speaks with clear articulation.
- Excellent technology skills and willing to adapt to technology changes.
- Willing to work outside in extreme temperatures and weather.
