As an Estimating Manager, you will oversee a department of estimating professionals that collaborate with GrayWolf professionals including sales, purchasing agents, architects, and engineers to provide a cost-effective estimating solution that fosters the purchase of GrayWolf preconstruction, design assist, project management, detailing, procurement, fabrication, and erection services.
Core Responsibilities
- Responsible for all work performed within the Estimating Department.
- Verifies that the work performed is accurate and complete.
- Develop and maintain department bid schedule.
- Effectively manage workflow to estimators to ensure deadlines are met.
- Schedule pre-bid and bid review meetings with stake holders.
- Develop and/or review conceptual budgets.
- Responsible for assembling and calculating all labor costs and standards.
- Works with Sales and Executive Management to develop competitive job bids.
- Manages the performance of all subordinate Estimators.
- Prepare pricing estimates on new projects and estimate prices on change orders on existing contracts.
- Read and understand job bid instructions, and detailed specifications, prepare a take-off of materials included in the job, and estimate all necessary labor, materials, buyout items, and equipment costs (including crane costs) to prepare a thorough price estimate.
- Exercise good judgment and experience in working with purchasing, steel erection labor, equipment, and transportation costs to arrive at full cost estimates with appropriate profit margins to achieve the company’s goals.
- On-Board, Train, Develop and mentor staff.
- Communicates effectively (written and verbal) with others and stakeholders.
- Able to develops rates and productivity standards.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of related experience in estimating and bidding on structural steel and heavy plate projects.
- 5 years as a Senior Estimator.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, or Architecture may substitute for additional years of experience.
- Budget planning/forecasting.
- Ability to read and interpret technical and legal documents.
- Experienced in various pricing approaches, including Conceptual Budgets, Lump Sum, Unit Pricing, and Design Assist
