High School Work-Based Learning Job Descriptions
The Great Plains Manufacturing High School Work-Based Learning Program is designed to introduce high school students to careers in manufacturing. Participants must be 17 years of age, enrolled in a local high school and qualify for this program through their participating high school.
Assembly: Students will learn a variety of different jobs while working in the Assembly or Sub-Assembly areas. Duties may include assembling pieces, building various components, decaling, and other related tasks. This allows for an understanding of how our processes work.
Parts Department: Students working in the Parts Department pick, pack and ship parts to dealers or customers. Duties include organizing products into labeled boxes, taking inventory, updating inventory counts on the computer, along with other tasks.
Quality Control: Students in our QC department are responsible for making sure that parts are up to GPM standards. This includes measuring parts and testing parts to ensure they don’t have any defects. These students are critical to making sure that our many assembly lines run without having to stop.
Paint Line Prep: Students working on the Paint Line will help load, offload and prep parts for painting. This initial step in the Paint process is critical in ensuring better paint quality.
