Linux Systems Administrator – Salina, KS
Great Plains Manufacturing currently has an opening for a Linux Systems Administrator in the IT Department at the Corporate Office in Salina, KS.
This is an on-site position based in Salina, KS. Typical hours are M-F from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some after hours and weekend support may be required.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Great Plains Manufacturing currently has an opening for a Linux Systems Administrator in the IT Department at the Corporate Office in Salina, KS.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform analysis of Windows/Unix/Linux/storage servers needed in a virtualized environment and contribute to design of server architecture, integration, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Primarily responsible for all Linux and Unix server environments and backup to Windows server environment.
- Create and maintain users and permissions.
- Maintain proper data protection services with backups, replications, and off-site backups.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining system configuration and maintenance documentation.
- Ensure systems are configured, operated, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with the documented security policies and procedures.
- Work with IT security personnel to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems.
- Work with IT Support Specialist to provide 2nd level support for challenging issues.
- Work with other System Administrators to provide a team approach to various challenges and solutions.
- Some after hours and weekend support may be required.
- This position is on-site, located in Salina, KS.
- Follow all Great Plains policies and OSHA safety regulations and wears prescribed safety and protective equipment.
- Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS, or related field; or 3-5 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with System Administration for Linux or Solaris (Unix) and Windows Servers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience compiling and supporting open-source UNIX/Linux software
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker, Podman and/or Kubernetes
- Experience supporting database technologies like MySQL, Oracle Database or SQL Server
- Ability to solve practical problems and variables in situations with limited standardization
- Ability to analyze technical procedures and regulations
- Excellent computer skills to include internet, software concepts, hardware, graphics, multimedia, formatting, tables, operating systems, databases, programming languages and scripts
