Class: Non-Exempt (PT Hourly) February 2025
Location: Merriam
Pay rate: $20-$24 per hour
Reports to: Finance and HR Manager

Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized individual to support various Finance functions in a fast-paced, compassionate animal shelter environment. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring smooth and efficient daily Finance operations. This position requires someone who thrives in an ever-changing setting and is dedicated to maintaining a positive, supportive workplace.
Key Responsibilities and Competencies:
- Process all mail, bank, credit card, and other financial transactions.
- Assist with month-end, year-end tasks and other financial duties.
- Assist the Finance and HR manager with retail system tracking, reporting and maintenance.
- Process invoices and payments.
- Monitor and categorize company expenses, ensuring all are recorded in compliance with company policies.
- Input financial data into accounting software and spreadsheets, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Help prepare and organize financial documentation for internal and external audits.
- Assist the Finance and HR manager by acting as a liaison with internal departments to gather financial information and provide assistance with financial inquiries.
- Perform any other finance-related tasks as required by the finance department.
- All other shelter duties as assigned

Experience Requirements:
- 1-3 years of experience in a finance or accounting role (internships can be considered).
- Proficiency in accounting software, Quickbooks Online, preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work with financial data and manage sensitive information.
- Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Advanced Excel skills, preferred.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Demonstrated good decision-making and judgement skills, and ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Self-starter with strong work ethic and resourceful approach
- Knowledge and work-related experience with animals preferred
Additional Requirements:
- Possess a valid driver’s license
Work Conditions
- Schedule: Onsite, Monday through Friday; 12:00pm – 4:30pm
- Must be comfortable working with dogs and cats of all ages and temperaments
- Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
- Maturity, good judgment, professionalism, and ability to work as a team
- Ability to remain calm and empathetic in stressful situations
- Compassion and empathy for animals and humans
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, stooping, carrying, and reaching
- Handle and restrain animals weighing up to 100 lbs.
- Lift 50 lbs. to waist height
