Assistant Dispatcher - Operations
POSITION SUMMARY
The position is responsible for supporting Green Transportations operations team in assisting dispatching CDL-A operators nationwide. This is an essential role in the operations department and acts in a supportive manner for all day-to-day activities. Primary responsibilities will be related to dispatching CDL-A operators, answering incoming phone calls, developing, tracking, manifesting, dispatching, and ensuring Green Transportations standard of excellence is being upheld regarding inbound and outbound freight. Other duties may include searching load boards, communicating with internal and external customers, maintaining, sorting, organizing, and completing paperwork related to CDL-A operator duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Establish rapport with current and potential new and existing clientele by seeking to understand their freight handling needs and commodities
- Directly Building and maintaining relationships with customers with the goal of satisfying collective needs
- Strategically securing inbound freight that ensures our drivers maintain their relative schedules, while balancing inbound freight delivery schedules to deliver all freight on time
- Utilizing customer relationships as priority before implementing brokers or load boards. Negotiating rates with customer’s and brokers as necessary to maximize revenue as instructed
- Work toward company revenue goals with measured inbound and outbound rates
- 50% shared responsibility of after-hours on-call dispatch needs – while remaining available for inbound dispatch support/assistance while not on call
- Ability to work independently and work as a team
- Communicate effectively with team members

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be able to support the Green Transportation culture with a focus on teamwork and a commitment to service
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft office suites including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- US Citizenship required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Transportation and Logistics
- Knowledge of FMCSA rules and regulations
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and guidelines
- Experience with Tractor-trailer operations
- Experience with Dispatching CDL-A operators
COMMUNICATION
- Effectively and regularly communicate with the Green Transportation Operations Manager and Operations Supervisor
- Support Green Transportation’s values, principles, vision, and mission
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Lift up to 50lb occasionally
- Stand/walk up to 8 hours per day
- Bend and Twist occasionally
- Reach/work above shoulders occasionally
- Fine manipulations frequently to occasionally
- Gross manipulation frequently to occasionally
- Push/pull frequently to occasionally
- Sit a desk workstation for up to 8 hours per day
PAY RATE & SCHEDULE:
$22-24/hour - expected 20-25 hours per week
Monday, Tuesday, and Friday - 8-hour shift - 8am-5pm
