The full performance level class works under general supervision & requires considerable knowledge of patrolling (Greene County Park District), Recreation and Park areas, and other properties owned by Greene County; requires working knowledge of law enforcement & agency rules & regulations in order to serve as law enforcement officer for assigned park area and Parks & Recreation.HOURS OF WORK: 3:00 P.M. - 11:00 P.M.; 40 hours per week, varies (weekends, holidays and rotating)Position posted until filled.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
(These duties are illustrative only. Incumbents may perform some or all of these duties or other job-related duties as assigned.)Patrol areas in vehicles, on foot and on bikes to protect visitors, facilities, and property to include: enforcing park rules and the laws of Ohio, issuing warning and citations, serving arrest warrants, investigating accidents and criminal violations, enforcing traffic laws, inspecting buildings and facilities, and checking for required license and permits; interacts with park visitors, assist park visitors with information on the flora, fauna and history of park areas; acts as a liaison between the department and other agencies; performs undercover operations by doing surveillance and working plain clothes investigations; attends mandatory training and qualifications as well as training to further position as ranger; attend pre-trials and trials in Juvenile, Municipal and Common Pleas Courts when required; perform other duties of similar nature or level. Prepares and maintains daily logs, citations and detailed reports, logs evidence and determines the details to include in records; inventories and purchases equipment and supplies by performing price comparisons from vendors and working within budget requirements, conducts inventory checks and prepares inventory forms and purchase orders. Assists in presenting educational materials to groups to include bike safety, park ranger talks, talks about our parks, natural resource programs and assist with other departmental programs and events including community policing. Assists in maintaining park facilities by performing routine maintenance on park grounds and facilities; assist with preparations and clean-up of departmental programs as needed. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.
