What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rural Health Clinic Clinical Application Analyst position at Greene County General Hospital?
The Clinical Application Analyst provides advanced functional and technical user support for clinical applications to ensure that the applications meet business needs. This includes facilitating optimal application system setup of our Electronic Health Record (EHR) and other related clinical systems utilized in the outpatient clinic setting. The Clinical Application Analyst provides education and training to designated application users including physicians, providers, clinical support staff, patient access staff, and revenue cycle staff. This role also performs ongoing system maintenance and operational support across assigned applications and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that the application(s) continue to meet business needs effectively and efficiently.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Configures and builds application functions to meet design specifications and desired workflows, including clinical and revenue cycle related workflows.
- Performs both unit and integrated testing on new application functions being introduced and adheres to established change control processes.
- Generated application reports and performs ongoing data analysis and data mining to assist stakeholders with decision support activities.
- Troubleshoots reported issues to establish root cause, performs appropriate corrective actions, and documents solutions appropriately to transfer knowledge to team members sharing in overall support of assigned applications.
- Performs ongoing system maintenance and operational support across assigned applications.
- Works to continuously improve the quality of solutions and services delivered.
- Collaborates with IT Leadership, Clinic Leadership, Quality Leadership, Revenue Cycle Leadership, and Health Information Management staff on improvement opportunities and functional issues to ensure that needs in each area are being met.
- Works to understand not only the application(s), but also the underlying needs that drive its use and evolution.
- Participates in meetings, including feedback on outstanding issues, presentations for educational opportunities and any other needs identified.
- Provides end users with essential tools and education to successfully utilize the assigned applications.
- Monitors performance metrics related to application use and develops improvement plans as needed.
- Performs issue tracking with application vendors to ensure timely and effective resolution of issues.
- Monitors and manages application interfaces.
- Facilitates communication with application vendors to develop effective working relationships with these vendors.
- Ensures that established processes and application functionality meet required regulatory standards and support quality initiatives.
- Ensures patient care environments and practices support exemplary, safe, and high-quality care of patients and families.
- Ensures that workplace environments are safe and that strategies are in place to prevent physical and psychological harm.
- Demonstrates clear ownership of workplace and patient safety.
- Reports mistakes, near misses, adverse events and quality and safety concerns.
- Develops and implements safety and quality plans that support exemplary workplace and care practices, while also supporting a culture of safety.

Job Qualification Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelor’s degree in healthcare related field preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Athena Application Certifications preferred. RHIT Certification preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years recent experience in a healthcare related field. Prior experience in clinical informatics or outpatient clinic operations preferred. Experience using and managing Athena EHR preferred. Advanced computer skills with EHR software, word processing and spreadsheet utilization. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in computer use. Demonstrates basic knowledge regarding HIM coding standards, clinical documentation standards, and HL7 standards. Analytic skills necessary to accurately assess complex workflows. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work on a team to influence physician documentation processes. Experience with Azara, Clear Triage, and Sceptra preferred.
Physical Requirements: Frequent sitting, standing, and walking. Able to lift 25 pounds unassisted. Frequent bending, reaching, and stooping. Adequate hearing and vision for effective communication.
