Job Summary
The Sales Application Engineer will be responsible for providing technical expertise and sales support to customers, both internal and external, ensuring they receive the best solutions for their HVAC needs. This role requires a strong mechanical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts in writing and verbally to both technical and non-technical audiences. The ideal candidate will work closely with engineers, customers, internal teams, and manufacturers to ensure accurate product selection, system design, and project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Sales & Customer Support:
- Assist customers in selecting appropriate HVAC products based on technical requirements and project specifications.
- Provide detailed technical support to contractors, engineers, and end users regarding product applications, system design, and troubleshooting.
- Prepare and present technical proposals, product demonstrations, and customer training sessions.
- Respond to customer inquiries, create competitive quotes, and follow up on sales opportunities.
Project Management & Execution:
- Support the sales team in managing project specifications and ensuring proper product selection.
- Work closely with vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers to confirm product availability, pricing, and lead times.
- Oversee order processing, track deliveries, and coordinate startup and warranty services.
- Assist in the preparation and review of technical documentation, submittals, and project plans.
Industry Expertise & Continuous Learning:
- Stay current on industry trends, competitor products, and emerging technologies in HVAC and hydronic systems.
- Continually participate in technical training and manufacturer certifications, both virtually and on-site.
- Provide design and application assistance to internal teams and customers based on the latest industry knowledge.
Collaboration & Ethics:
- Work closely with the outside sales team, marketing, and engineering departments to drive business growth.
- Conduct all business interactions with professionalism, integrity, and ethical standards.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude, with a background in HVAC, hydronics, or related fields.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for customers.
- Strong presentation and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field (preferred) or equivalent work experience.
- Previous experience in HVAC, plumbing, hydronics, or related sales engineering roles is a plus.
