1st Shift Machine Operator – Entry Level
Responsibilities
- Ability to produce quality parts that meet company standards.
- Ability to machine piston rings to proper dimensions to tolerance in the ten-thousandths.
- Operate machinery following traveler specifications.
- Perform various machining operations such as cutting, sanding, drilling, grinding, and turning.
- Inspect finished products using precision measuring tools such as manual micrometers and calipers.
- Make minor adjustments to machine(s) to ensure quality standards are being met.
- Notify subject matter expert, lead, supervisor or quality team member to conduct a first piece check.
- Perform a first piece inspection, and complete in-process inspections as needed.
- Complete a pre-start inspection of the machine to ensure machine meets production standards.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and wear protective gear while on the shop floor.
- Maintain accurate records of materials used and processes followed during production.
- Accurate tracking of productivity using production software by clocking in and out of jobs.
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with company policies.
- Ensure daily cell production goals are met.
- Ensuring the proper flow of rings and parts from operation to operation.
- Flex to other open machines as needed to meet production demands.
- Ability to follow and understand company policies and core values.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skill Required
- Ability to read, comprehend and follow basic written or oral instructions.
- Knowledge of machining processes used in the manufacturing of piston rings preferred.
- Knowledge of equipment utilized in the machining of piston rings preferred.
- Knowledge of tooling utilized in the machining of piston rings preferred.
- Knowledge of how to read a traveler.
- Knowledge of how to use a manual micrometer, calipers, and hand tools (wrench, screwdriver, hammer, etc.)
- Ability to pass a basic math test with the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and use decimal points to ten-thousandths.
- Able to effectively communicate and work in a team environment.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
Physical Requirements
- A 40 hour work week, 10-hour shifts (Monday through Thursday).
- Overtime may be required as needed to meet production demands, including working Fridays and/or Saturdays.
- Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Good manual hand dexterity.
- Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds at a time, including anything over 50 pounds with assistance (team lift).
