H.T. Hackney Company, founded in 1891 is a privately owned wholesale distributor serving more than 20,000 retail customers in over 20 U.S. states making it one of the largest in the United States.
We are currently accepting applications for a positive and upbeat person to join our team as a full-time Buyer located at our HT Hackney warehouse in Lynchburg, VA.
BUYER
- Assumes various responsibilities including:
- Reviewing orders
- Placing purchase orders
- Price maintenance
- Vendor maintenance
- Vendor relations
- Viewing of daily reports
- Managing out of stock, overstock and manage disposition of overstock
merchandise
- Monitoring/receiving of shortages and/or delays
KNOWLEDGE BASE
- Complete understanding of HT Hackney operating procedures and products to ensure that accounts are up to date with the latest trends
- Active listener, quick thinker, multitasker, and proactive problem solver
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Dependable, punctual, and trustworthy
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- AS400 experience preferred
- Computer experience (MS Word, Excel)
- Basic math skills
REQUIREMENTS:
- Be able to pass pre-employment background check and drug test
- Must be able to attend Food Expo (one week of year travel)
- Must be available to participate in inventory two weekends per year
