Overview
Habitat for Humanity Denton County is a charitable nonprofit organization serving communities by building homes for families in need. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Construction Manager to oversee and manage construction projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, excellent project and time management skills, and a thorough understanding of construction processes. This role requires effective communication with various stakeholders, including contractors, clients, volunteers and team members, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Jobsite production, material and subcontractor management must be handled effectively using project management to ensure steady progress in Habitat for Humanity building program.
Duties
- Develop and manage project schedules using project management tools to ensure timely completion of construction activities.
- Oversee the daily operations on the construction site, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure that all materials and services are delivered as per contract specifications.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and address any issues that arise during the construction process.
- Prepare and review construction estimates, ensuring accuracy in budgeting and resource allocation.
- Utilize software such as Civil 3D, Prolog, and Bluebeam for project documentation, design reviews, and collaboration with team members.
- Maintain clear communication with clients regarding project status, changes in scope, and any potential delays or challenges.
- Ensure all contractual obligations are met while fostering positive relationships with all stakeholders involved in the project.
- Works closely with the CEO in effective communication, project management, and tracking progress on all builds and the plans/timelines in place.
- Collaborates effectively with Volunteer services, Committees, and Homeowner services.
Experience
- Proven experience in project scheduling and management within the construction industry is essential.
- Proficiency in using project management software such as Primavera, Civil 3D, Prolog, is preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction estimating processes and contract management practices.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working on diverse construction sites with a focus on building projects is highly desirable.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams towards achieving project goals while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
· Requires ability to perform work at a consistent heavy-duty level
· Must be able to lift 30 pounds on a consistent basis.
· Will have to walk, stand, squat, climb, bend, work at an 8-foot or higher heights on a regular basis
· Ability to drive a truck/trailer and manage the trailer into close situations
Required Abilities:
- Residential construction knowledge, skill, and experience
- Ability to read blueprints
- Ability to lead, motivate, organize, and maximize the resources of regular, skilled volunteer labor
- Ability to plan and lead construction site activities to effectively utilize all volunteer labor
- Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively on-site volunteer support
- Knowledge, skill, and abilities relative to building codes, zoning ordinances and general construction and building regulations
