POSITION SUMMARY
The Driver is responsible for providing transportation services essential to HACD residents to maintain their independence. This is a part-time position that pays $16 an hour.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Transports residents to and from destinations in a safe, efficient manner.
- Follows a schedule for pick-up and drop-off of riders.
- Maintains accurate records concerning mileage, trips, and any incidents that may occur during service delivery.
- Assists residents into and out of van and helps by lifting or carrying items.
- Performs routine vehicle inspections and fills vehicle with fuel.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Sufficiently follows written instructions.
- Operate an Agency vehicle in accordance with state laws and Agency policies.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Knowledgeable of the characteristics, lifestyles, and special needs of low-income families and individuals.
- Knowledge of Authority policies and procedures.
- Meet the public with courtesy and tact.
- Ability to work independently.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid State of Connecticut Class A or B driver's license with clean driving record required.
- One year customer service related experience to include some experience interacting with others required.
- Experience working with low-income and or special needs individuals preferred.
- Bilingual ability in Spanish is a plus.
