ABOUT US

Hakuchō is a modern izakaya-style restaurant dedicated to providing a Japanese-inspired dining experience, bringing new flavors and experiences to our local culinary scene. Our menu features a selection of small plates, yakitori, katsus, as well as specialty cocktails, beer, and sake. We aim to provide a casual yet elevated setting for our guests to be able to commune over drinks and bar-style bites, typical of our favorite izakaya experiences in Japan.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are currently seeking a server assistant to join our service team. The server assistant supports servers in delivering exceptional dining experiences by ensuring tables are clean, organized, and properly set. This role involves clearing and resetting tables, refilling drinks, and assisting with various service tasks to maintain a smooth flow in the dining room. The server assistant works closely with the serving and kitchen staff to provide a welcoming and efficient service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Clear used dishes, silverware, and glassware from tables promptly and reset tables quickly for the next guests.
• Ensure tables are properly arranged and stocked with necessary items, such as napkins and condiments.
• Provide guests with water and refill beverages as needed throughout their dining experience.
• Assist guests with special requests and ensure their needs are met promptly and courteously.
• Keep the dining room clean and organized, including tidying up chairs, arranging place settings, and restocking service stations.
• Occasionally assist with delivering food orders from the kitchen to tables, ensuring accuracy and proper presentation.
• Maintain adequate supplies of glassware, plates, napkins, and condiments, and restock as needed.
• Help with minor food prep tasks if required, such as portioning condiments or arranging plates.
• Work collaboratively with servers, bartenders, and kitchen staff to ensure a seamless dining experience for guests.
• Adhere to all restaurant policies and follow local health and safety regulations.

REQUIREMENTS

• Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting is helpful but not required.
• Familiarity with basic food service practices is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively with servers, kitchen staff, and other team members to ensure efficient service.
• Clear and polite communication with guests and staff.
• Ensure tables are properly set and cleaned, and that guests' needs are met promptly.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Friendly and attentive demeanor, committed to enhancing the guest experience.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as carrying heavy trays and standing for extended periods.
• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods.
• Ability to lift and carry items, such as trays of dishes and glassware, weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Comfortable working in a busy and noisy environment.
• Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

• $9.89/hr plus tips. Hours during the first month of opening will be increased but you will be receiving overtime for any hours above 40.
