Service Manager

Hale Trailer Brake & Wheel Inc. is a multi-location, full-service trailer dealership seeking an experienced Service Manager for its Elkton MD branch. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the heavy-duty truck and trailer industry who is qualified to staff and manage a trailer shop.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a business plan to achieve service department sales and profit goals.
• Prepare estimates/work quotes for trailer repairs and rental inventory.
• Visit with customers and prospects to solicit maintenance and repair work.
• Manage parts inventory and ordering parts needed to complete jobs on time.
• Develop and maintain vendor relationships including negotiation and procurement as needed
• Prepare, review and close out work orders accurately and on a timely basis.
• Manage the Service Department in accordance with all Company policies, DOT, OSHA and all other gov’t regulations.
• Maintain customer, vendor, and trailer files and review pricing and approve vendor invoicing.
• Hire, train, guide and motivate a staff of skilled mechanics to achieve excellent customer service and satisfaction.
• Comply with the company safety program by promoting safety awareness and a safe work environment.
• Facility and site management.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the heavy-duty truck/trailer industry with a minimum of 5 years in service department management.
• Must have leadership skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to evaluate, motivate and manage staff.
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment and multi-task.
• Must have proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office.
• Must be able to work flexible hours based on workload.
• Must pass a standard pre-employment drug test and physical.
